Well, it is still colder than a witches heart, but it sure is pretty!
You can see these windmills for miles (again, photos just don't do this justice). They are much larger than the ones you see while heading east on the PA turnpike!
Almost at Magnolia Table for breakfast! I sure hope there isn't a line!
NO LINE, we were seated right away, and we shared a large square table with a couple who lived near Stephenville, TX (we are headed THERE on Sunday to see my cousin Dean and his wife Rachel!)
There were also 2 young ladies who were visiting from Wisconsin! It was pretty cool talking with people who are there for the same reason you are....you LOVE Chip and Jo!
Breakfast was SO absolutely delicious! I had Eggs Benedict made with Jo's biscuits instead of an English Muffin and peppered bacon instead of Canadian bacon (YES, I ATE MEAT and I will be eating more because I am NOT coming to Texas and missing out on brisket)!!!!
Ernie had pancakes and sausage (YES, HE ATE MEAT TOO)! Couldn't get a picture because he dug into it very quickly! We both ate almost every bite! Good thing we were headed to the Silos, so we could walk off that meal!
I can't tell you how excited I was to finally be at Magnolia! I can't say Ernie was as excited as I, but he was a good sport and never complained even once! He held all the stuff I wanted to purchase while I kept looking around. He found a guy from Arizona, so they talked for a little while!
The damage wasn't TOO bad! I bought a little something for my daughter, Rachel, since she and Marco just bought a new house! AND a little something for me as well!
This is a little Church that Chip and Jo rescued from the 1800's. It was falling apart and they moved it here to the Silos and brought it back to life!
Silos Baking Co. I did not get any cupcakes from here for two reasons. First, the line was out the door, and Second, I had just eaten a HUGE breakfast! But, people were coming out of there raving at how good they were!
They even have a baseball field!
Yes, I even took a picture of the faucets in the bathroom because I thought they were pretty cool!
I could go on and on about Magnolia, but it was time to move on! I had already tested Ernie's patience with all this shopping. I would, maybe, have liked to explore the city of Waco a little more, but I feared it would be like me sticking pieces of wood into Ernie's nailbeds!
This is the Alico Building that they always show on Fixer Upper...I will admit, I have no idea what the Alico Building houses (a quick google search told me it holds the offices of American-Amicable Life Insurance Company of Texas) and I really don't care, but it is a neat building that pops up over Magnolia Market!
Ok, so back on the road and a quick stop at a Waco Walmart! Another massive Texas flag (picture doesn't do it justice, but it is BIG)!
Back on the road (yes, another LONG stretch of Texas highway)!
This reminded me of Little House on the Prairie (I half expected Laura Ingalls to come running through the field)!
We were headed for another campground we found on Free Roam. I will be honest, I love that app and it is saving us a ton of money, but you never quite know what you will find. Well, I think we found paradise! This is a free campground located at Whitney Lake! It is called Soldier's Bluff Park and it is managed by the Army Corps of Engineers!
GORGEOUS!
Brazos River on the other side of the dam!
We got our 5 mile walk in, and since we will be here again tomorrow, we will explore a little more. There is a castle here (you can kind of see it in the last photo) and we have to check it out!
More to come from Whitney Lake tomorrow, but for now we are going to build a fire and relax!
Night!
