 Glacier National Park

On the way to Glacier.........very excited!

Did you know that in 2023, Glacier National Park implemented vehicle reservations, in order to enter the park?

WE DID NOT!!!!!!!!!!

Drove 7 hours and got a picture of the GNP sign (On the WEST side of the park)

Saw a sign that said "Show ID, park pass and vehicle reservation", HUH??? Vehicle reservation??  The park ranger turned us away and told us where we could go for more information.  I guess we weren't the only ones, because there were quite a few people in the information line!
We ended up driving 2 hours to St. Mary's on the EAST Side of the park.  There,  we could catch a free shuttle instead of driving through the park ourselves.  They said this was to avoid major traffic through the park, which is a good idea in theory, but I wish we would have known ahead of time.  We had not experienced this in any other park we have visited, so it taught us a lesson about research your destination!
Also, our camper did not meet the road restrictions, it is too wide, so I guess the shuttle was a blessing for us!

Found a campsite at St. Mary's Campground and then caught a shuttle to Hidden Lake at Logan Pass.  The shuttle, turns out, is awesome, especially for Ernie who was able to look out the window and actually enjoy the sites (since he is the one who is ALWAYS driving)!

Ok...Hidden Lake (a couple from Canada told us this is probably one of the most beautiful places at Glacier)

Talk about a trail that keeps on going...

and going....

and going (straight up, I might add)

and going!

What awaits at the top is PARADISE!

Had a few visitors at the top as well...
Little beggar (Ernie wanted to give him a few crumbs, but I refused)

Mountain Goat working his way down the mountain!

Big Horn Sheep (almost collided with them on the trail)!

Back down (much easier)!
To the visitor center.  Glacier and Waterton (Canada) share this beautiful place, hence the 2 flags!

Logan's Pass

On the way back in the shuttle!  Windows in the shuttle were pretty spotty, but managed to get a good pic!

Back at camp for the night to enjoy a hot shower and a cold beverage)

Day 2 - Glacier

Back in the shuttle (40 miles to Logan's Pass by the way)  Logan's Pass is where you catch the bus headed West.

This is where we found out WHY there is a vehicle length and width restriction.  You would NOT fit 2 large cards through some of these turns!  Glad we were in a shuttle!  I tried to take more pictures of what we were seeing, but they just wouldn't take from the shuttle!

After another 1.5 hours, finally made it to the West side!
McDonald Lake (the rocks are quite colorful here)!

Another 1.5 hours on the shuttle to Logan's Pass, we had to catch our East side shuttle, but got a great view of Jackson's Glacier!

FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just kidding!  I took this picture from the Visitor Center, where we watched a movie about Glacier!
Guess this as close to seeing a Grizzly as we were going to get!
I'm not really complaining, by the way!

GREAT trip to Glacier, BUT you most definitely need MORE than 2 days!
