3/4/23
This was our $88 campsite, but it was really nice and I was even able to do some laundry! Also, this is my dream firepit, but funny thing, the sign on the bench says, "No wood fires, no tiki torches, no propane fire pit" so I am not really sure what this gorgeous fire pit is doing in this RV park! But I like it.....I might try to talk Ernie into this set up!
Headed for Chapel of the Holy Cross!
This is a Catholic Church that is built in rock! It is stunning, but even more stunning was the way I felt kneeling in the chapel, saying a prayer and looking up at the beautiful cross! I had a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes....that is how you know the Lord is with you!
Glad we started at the Chapel, because we were headed for Devil's Bridge Trailhead!
Good thing we went to Church FIRST, because the hike was a muddy, icy mess! And we didn't fall ONE time (we did witness quite a few people falling, which on some parts of this trail, you can get hurt bad)!
Not sure what these little rocks piled up signified, but thought it was very cool!
This is as far as we got on the trail....the last portion was just too bad for us to even attempt! Maybe a few years ago, but not now....I didn't want to break anything on this trip!
This is the photo I got from the rock, on which Ernie and I are standing below!
We hiked 6.1 miles today in all that mess, and we were pretty pooped, but we had to head to Flagstaff, so we ate a little lunch in the camper (when we eat lunch in the camper, we don't raise the roof, we sit in there with the roof lowered and eat at our little table! I will try to take a pic of that at some point)!
Off to Flagstaff on Route 89A! Once again, we experienced a lot of weather changes! Flagstaff got a couple feet of snow a few days ago!
Sedona did have snow, but not FEET of snow! Flagstaff in only about 25 miles from Sedona, but in the first picture, we are leaving Sedona, not too much snow.......
But in 15 miles, it looked like a Winter Wonderland...look to the right top portion in the 2nd phot, and you can see how the road twist and winds! I now know WHY they closed a portion of 89A a couple days ago!
I don't know who works on the road crew here, but they are magicians!
Entering Flagstaff, I don't know what mountain this is, but it is BIG!
We checked into our little motel called Castle Rock (you should stay here if you are in Flagstaff! The price is right and it is a sweet little motel that is SO CLEAN! SO CLEAN, you can't even believe it!
Got quick showers (HOT....LOL) and then went the Boot Barn!
Sheriff Ernesto picked up a hat!
We will be heading toward the Grand Canyon tomorrow, March 5. We don't THINK we can get cell service there, so it may be a week before I am able to show you pics of the Grand Canyon! We leave there on March 10!
Night for now! (It is 9:09 mountain time and this is probably the latest I have been up since we left!
Ernie is sleeping soundly as I finish up the blog for the day!
Be in touch soon!
